Hmmm, perhaps John Turturro in Barton Fink.The second clue is silent, so I'm going with Harold Lloyd in Safety Last!.The connection would be clocks (ominously ticking away Fink's deadline and of course serving as the basis of one of Lloyd's most famous stunts).
