Could I Have A Farthing, Father?

Here's a cool little Wikipedia article on the history of British coinage. It's an interesting read for anybody that reads far too much Sherlock Holmes or Agatha Christie. Check out the section on pre-decimalization, where they explain shillings and pence and the many ways to write down denominations. The canonical list of coinage at the bottom is a fun read through.
