P: I get an image of Andy Griffith saying this while giving a litle half head-shake. But in actuality it's from the Campbell's Soup ads.

E: A total WAG: War of the Worlds original radio broadcast.

Sometimes the WAGs are the best. (Oh, and the Andy Griffith bit you're reminded of is actually "MMmmmm...good cracker", a Ritz ad from our youth.) Mp3 available here. (scroll down to "Ritz")

And the Connection?

And the Connection?

If it ain't somethin' to do with Campbell's sponsoring/advertising on that WotW broadcast, I got nothin'.

Oh, so very, VERY close!

A little cheating indicates that perhaps the success of WotW inspired Campbell's to sponsor Welles' ongoing radio program, which included said broadcast.

Basically correct. Mercury stopped sponsoring The Theater of the Air, and Campbell's swooped in (or souped in?) to take over sponsorship of the program, renaming it "The Campbell's Playhouse".

Point to Mr. Hunley.
